Jess is Back!

Wow - I'm sorry I disappeared from this blog for a while, but I'm pleased to say, that I have been writing a lot! Sometimes it's just hard to keep up with blogging when you're so busy with everyday life callings, and writing on the side definitely takes up time as well. But I miss blogging, so HELLO!

How are you all doing? How is your writing coming along?

I've gone back and forth on what I'm writing. I am still working on my BIG project, but love writing children's stories on the side. I'm working on a "fairytale" at the moment, and I think it's quite creative. It was actually inspired from a video game of my childhood. Yes, I used to be, alright, still am, a huge gaming nerd. I just think video games are so creative. You realize that people come up with ideas, not only for books, but for movies, TV, video games, board games, etc. You can find ideas anywhere. You don't have to truly look that hard.

I've also realized it doesn't matter if my writing ideas aren't very good, the KEY is to keep on writing. Even a little bit each day. When I go lengthy periods of time without writing, I see how rusty I truly become. It's a very negative aspect. Also, reading a lot helps as well. I read a TON, and when I do, I gain ideas, and see the writing techniques of other authors. It's almost better than being in a writing class; the authors are our mentors. My professor if you will.

I start Grad School next Monday (AH!), and I cannot wait. But I go every single day, full-time, for 8 weeks. I'm going to be super busy and won't be able to go on a lot of trips this summer or what not. But, I have realized that this is the perfect opportunity to write a lot (between studying/homework). I am going to school at Westminster College, and it's a beautiful campus. Lots of quiet places to write. I'm really hoping to get a rough draft done of my main project by the end of summer, but all good things take work.

I just got the Harry Potter series on my Kindle, yes, the whole series, and I just love the way J.K. Rowling writes. It reminds me of why I love writing. It's all storytelling and I've been storytelling since the age of 5. My cute Nana would listen for hours as I would tell stories and write them down for her...poems as well. There are people who really support my writing, and others who look at it merely as just a hobby and nothing will come of it. That's fine. I don't have to have that many people back me up. I know it's a passion of mine, and I would love to become a published author one day. I might not make it big like Stephen King, J.K, or a lot of others, but I will be sharing what I love, and that makes all the difference in the world.

Thank you for following me on my journey; I'm very blessed to have bloggers like YOU in my life.
